“Giving Forward by Giving Back”

We honor the original “canvas” of each egg, whenever possible incorporating eggshell flaws and colors into the design of the artwork for a more natural piece.  Most subject matter portrayed on the eggs is based on nature itself, the images of  animals, plants, and environments captured. Unique wrap-around design allows more than one image on each egg!

We work with a wide variety of egg types and sizes from the small Bantam chicken egg to the large African Ostrich egg.  The smaller eggs can be made for hanging decorations or as standing.  All standing eggs are provided with a solid cedar base hand carved here at the studio for displaying.

Prices range from $12.50 to $175.

The outer shell layer is dark teal, the inner a lighter shade to white.  We take advantage of this difference, etching  directly into the outer shell and using the lighter inner shell to portray the artwork. Each stands ~4.5 - 5.5inches tall and is ~4 - 4.5inches wide.

This would be the “Big Daddy” of all eggs, standing a whopping 5-6 inches tall and ~4—4.5 inches wide, the surface allows a large surface for a wrap - around design capturing at least two to three images or a panoramic scene.  The outer shell layer is cream, the inner shell white.  This allows us to etch or carve away the outer shell, using the inner shell for lighter and white areas. In some instances we use a high contrast color background such as dark blue or black on the outer shell to further enhance the white of the inner shell.

P

About 1/3rd the size of the average every day common chicken, this bird produces eggs (you guessed it) about 1/3rd the size as well.  Eggs shown here with a quarter gives you a good idea of the size. That doesn’t stop us from making the artwork as detailed as we can, with images of nature captured in watercolor or acrylic on each delicate surface.  Eggs can be provided as standing or hanging.  Animal portraits can be captured as well!

Ah yes, one of the most common and yet usually unappreciated eggs, we honor the average chicken by using the delicate shell for both hanging and display eggs.  Often we coat the shell with a base color and then etch the colored surface to form designs such as our holiday snowflakes.  We capture pet images for custom tree ornaments and depict garden scenes with remarkable detail.  Not just for breakfast any more!

Each Rhea egg stands ~4.5 –5 inches tall and is about 3 0– 3.5 inches wide with a light cream colored shell.  These eggs are usually hand-painted in watercolor or acrylic painted and then etched for detailing of lighter areas.
